We all know the drill - it's January 1st, you're tired and feel like trash from not taking care of yourself from Halloween through New Years.
"THIS IS THE YEAR!" You exclaim to yourself loudly. "NEW YEAR, NEW ME!"
Could be!
Admittedly, even us salad & fitness psychos let it slide from time to time, pack on a few pounds and let the abs slowly slip away. The good thing about being a worker-outer (yes, that's a real word) is that you can always turn it back on. Establishing good habits becomes a groove, you start feeling better pretty quick and after you've done it for a while, you'll hardly remember how you lived without it.
As a fitness professional (certified trainer, gym owner, manger, nutrition coach) my first suggestion is to take it slow and focus on overall lifestyle. If I hold up a bag of Doritos in one hand and an apple in the other, you know which one is better for you. If I ask you which is better, 8 hours of sleep or 2 hours of sleep, you know. If I tell you to hydrate, you already know that.
The issue is seldom the information, yet we continually look for new tips, tricks and programs.
Sorry, it's always gonna be eat better, sleep more, drink water and move. BUT - doing just a little of each will move the needle, so start doing it today. Right now. Do a plank, drink a glass of water, prioritize your sleep before Netflix and eat some plants. You'll be happy you did.
